He owned and operated Smith Radio and T.V. of Jean and was a veteran of World War II. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Good Pine Baptist Church with Revs. S. B. Spinks and K. G. Brooks officiating. Burial followed at Tidwell Cemetery of Jena with arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rita Smith of Jean; four daughters, Margie Methivin, Sandy McDonald, Michelle Dougherty and Becky Hurt, all of Monroe; his mother, Mrs. Mamie Smith of Jena; four sisters, Verda Nichols of Alexandria, Zeloa Allien and Mavis Walker, both of Jena, and Rita Murell of Fordyce, Ark.; three brothers, Johnny Ray Smith and William "Sonny" Smith, both of Jena, and Paul Smith of West Monroe; nine grandchildren. Pallbearers were Johnny Ray Smith, Gary (Butch) Smith, Shep Allien, Scott Adams, Darrell Adams and Rusty Adams. Honorary pallbearers were Herbert Meche, Arnold Hawkins, Walter Bradford, Don Steen Huey Martin, Kenneth Boyd, James Hodges and Lonnie Love.
