She was a homemaker and member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was born March 3, 1913, at Rhinehart to the union of Thomas and Elizabeth Bradford Wheat. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 27, at Pine Grove Baptist Church of Rhinehart with the Revs. Preston holder and Joey Paul officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery near Rhinehart under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include two sons, Bennie Smith and Cecil Smith, both of Jena; three brothers, Howard Wheat of Jonesville, Reginald Wheat of Shreveport, and Melton Wheat of Jena; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Roy Smith, Jamie Smith, Jackie Morris, Jr., Richard Faulkner, Russ Coldiron, Earl Dunn, and Joseph D. Lewis, Jr.
