Sandifer, Jr. Hansford Leon Sandifer, Jr., 85, of Jena, died last Friday, September 8, 2000, at his residence in the Pleasant Hill Community near Jena. He was a retired state inspector for the Louisiana Department of Highways, a member of the Baptist faith, and a veteran of the United States military. He was born October 23, 1914, in the Pleasant Hill Community to the union of Carrie Brooks and Hansford Sandifer, Sr. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral home with Rev. Jimmy Keene officiating. Interment followed at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah S. Melvin of Thibodaux, two sons, Bobby Sandifer and Jack Sandifer, both of Jena; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Bo Smith, Dan Evans, Tommy Joy, Dale Evans, T. L. Sandifer, and Todd Ingram. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Maxwell, John Maxwell, Duck Richardson, Slim Stapelton, Earl Killingsworth, Perry Aplin, Greg Richardson, Larry Joe Andrews, Olan Poole, Pete Evans, Reggie Ingram, Toby Vincent, and Shelby Pritchard.
