Thompson, aged 58 years, respected citizen of Ward 5, LaSalle Parish, was found dead in a garden plot about 150 yards from his home Sunday afternoon with a charge of gunshots in his chest. Death was pronounced accidental by Coroner Hamilton, who was called to view the body. The discovery of the body was made by Mr. and Mrs. John Stringer. Mr. Thompson had left his home early Sunday morning and it is thought his gun was accidentally discharged when he was crossing a fence. Coroner Hamilton said it was a pure case of accidental death. The accident is supposed to have happened about 7 a.m. but the body was not found until in the afternoon. The deceased is survived by his widow and six children. Funeral services were held Monday with interment at Frazier Cemetery, near the Thompson home.
