Miss Jessie May Trotti, 51 year old LaSalle Parish Health Unit nurse, died instantly in the crash. Mrs. Velma Baldridge, 58 year old Jena housewife, died about an hour after the accident at Pollock while being transported by ambulance to an Alexandria hospital. The accident occurred about 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of LA 124 and 125 (old U. S. 165) southwest of Olla. Miss Trotti, approaching the triangle intersection from Urania with Mrs. Baldridge as a passenger, turned left off La 125 onto La. 124 which leads to Winnfield. Charles J. McDougald of Olla was driving a loaded pulpwood truck from Winnfield into the intersection of La. 124. Miss Trotti's car crossed the highway into the path of the truck, which veered across the highway in an apparent effort to avoid a crash. The truck skidded about 100 feet before hitting the car. The left front of the truck hit the left side of the car between the front wheel and the door on the driver's side. The impact drove the car backwards about 30 feet. Both vehicles left the highway but neither turned over. TROTTI SERVICES Funeral services for Miss Trotti were held at Temple Baptist Church of Jena with the Rev. K. G. Brooks officiating Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial was in Belah Cemetery under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include three brothers, Charlie Trotti, Cecil Trotti of Magnolia, Ark., and Everett Trotti of Pasadena, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Ludia Mitchell of Shreveport and Mrs. Fronia Austin of Jena. BALDRIDGE SERVICES Funeral services for Mrs. Baldridge were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Belah Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Balke officiating. Burial followed in Belah Cemetery under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Mrs. Baldridge is survived by her husband, Arch Baldridge of Jena; her mother, Mrs. Hattie Robark; two daughters, Mrs. Jimmere Jones of Big Springs, Texas, and Mrs. Beth McGuffin of Many; two sons, D. W. Jones of Pasadena, Calif., and David L. Jones of Clovis, N. M.; and six grandchildren. CORRECTION - February 20, 1964 paper In last week's paper the driver of the pulpwood truck involved in the wreck at Olla with Miss Jessie Trotti and Mrs. Velma Baldridge was erroneously reported as Charles J. McDougald of Olla. Mr. McDougald is the owner of the truck and the driver should have been reported as Nathaniel Roberts, an Olla Negro employed by Mr. McDougald as a truck driver.
