Terrell moved with his family to the Eden community from Grant Parish about four months ago and has been employed by the Lacy Paving Company for the past two months, on the Trout-Tullos highway construction. The theory reported to have been arrived at by Coroner Hamilton and his jury is that Terrell went to a cedar chest to get some article, presumable a towel. It is thought that a pistol, in a scabbard, was perhaps on top of the article wanted, or in the way, and that the weapon was picked up by the barrel end of the scabbard and the gun slipped out, striking the hammer on the edge of the chest and causing it to discharge. The bullet entered Terrell's neck near the adams apple and ranged up, emerging from the back of his head. The missile was found on the floor. No one witnessed the tragedy, but a boy who was sitting on the porch heard the shot and was the first to enter the room, it is reported. Terrell, it is said, was apparently trying to speak when the boy reached him, but died without an utterance. The deceased is a son-in-law of Mr. J. M. Coleman, of Pollock. He is survived by his widow and two children, a son, 5, and a daughter, 3. The body was taken to Grant Parish for funeral services and burial Wednesday. Coroner Hamilton and a jury consisting of Messrs. Bob Wright, J. F. Whatley, J. H. White, J. S. Gray and another man whose name was not learned, conducted the inquest.
