Vinson Dies at Veteran's Hospital, Sept. 30 Joe H. Vinson, well known Trout resident, died in the Veteran's Hospital at Pineville, at 2:30 Monday, September 30. He had suffered with cancer for the past 13 months and had not been in good health since 1929. He had undergone treatment at a New Orleans hospital. Joe H. Vinson was 57 years, 11 months, and 6 days of age at the time of his death. He was born October 24, 1888, at Magnolia, Ark., the son of John and Mandy Vinson. December 18, 1922, he was married to Miss Janie Cooley of Pineville. She survives him in death. Before coming to Trout, the family resided at Glenmora, Alco, Otis, and Seeper, La. The deceased was beloved by all who knew him and though in ill health for many years, his disposition remained sunny. Even when near death, "Uncle Joe" as he was affectionately known, always had a welcoming smile for everyone. Mr. Vinson followed the lumber industry as an occupation. He was a veteran of World War I entering the service in 1917, and serving in France 11 months. He was a member of Searcy Baptist Church. Surviving to mourn his passing are: his wife, three sons, J. S., 21, daughter, Juanita, age 15; four brothers, Bill Vinson, Klammath Falls, Ore., Bob Vinson, Longleaf, La., John Vinson, Magnolia, Texas, and Watson Vinson, Zimmerman, La., two sisters, Ella Jefferson, Wright City, Texas, and Effie Martin, Diboil, Texas. Funeral serves were held at 4:00 p. m., Tuesday, October 1, at Searcy Church. Rev. A. L. Russell conducted the services with interment in Thomas Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. John C. Vinson of Magnolia, Texas; Mrs. K. H. Huntington (niece), Houston, Texas; K. H. Cooley, LeCompte, La.; Mr. and Mrs. Ton Cooley, Alexandria; Mrs. Tommy W????? and daughter, Martha Ann; and Mrs. Billy Jean Bryan, of Alexandria; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wilbanks, and sons, Bernie and Sam, Jr., Monroe La.; and Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Vinson, Zimmerman, La. Kinner and Stevens Home for Funerals were in charge of arrangements. (NOTE: Obituary only listed the one son, although "three sons" are noted as surviving.)
