WHATLEY LaSalle Parish lost one of its best known citizens Wednesday when James M. Whatley well known merchant and farmer of the Eden Community succumber to a lingering illness. Mr. Whatley was 80 years old and was born and reared in LaSalle parish. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phenous Whatley deceased. Funeral services were held at the family residence at 3:00 p.m. Thursday. Interment followed in the Eden Church Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral Home. Those who mourn his passing are: wife, Mrs. James M. Whatley; three sons, E.R., James Floyd and A.J. Whatley of Eden; three daughters, Mrs. J.W. Waggoner of Olla, Mrs. E.E. Jones and Mrs. Butler Floyd of Jena.
