Whatley, 63, Dies After Short Illness; Rites Held Alvin William Whatley, 63, a resident of Standard for the past 12 years, died at a Monroe hospital Monday morning at 9 o'clock following a brief illness. Funeral services for the oil field switcher were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the First Baptist church of Olla, with the Rev. Filer Seal and the Rev. B.B. Cox, pastor, conducting the final rites. Interment followed in the Vivian (La.) Cemetery under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Home for Funerals, Jena. Mr. Whatley, a member of the Olla Baptist church, Olla lodge F&AM, and Royal Arch lodge of Urania is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Whatley of Standard; two daughters, Mrs. Elvie Barber of Krotz Springs and Mrs. Lillie Belle Duplissey of Alice, Texas; two sons, hershel of Shreveport and kenneth of Olla; a brother, A.C. Whatley of Mentone, Texas; a sister, Mrs. J.L. Savage of Shreveport; a half-brother, Jim Whatley of Coushatta; a hlaf-sister, Mrs. Moore of Diana, Texas, and six grandchildren.
