Whatley Of Jena Succumbs Jesse Mercer Whatley, 94, of Jena died Friday at 7:30 a.m. at a Jena nursing home. He was a retired salesman. Mr. Whatley and his wife celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Jan. 21. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Jena First Baptist church with the Rev. Dan Blake, the Rev. Bill Moore and the Rev. K.G. Brooks officiating. Burial followed at Nolley Memorial Methodist church cemetery of Jena under the direction of Hixson Brothers funeral home of Jena. Survivors include Mr. Whatley's widow, Mrs. Lillie Francie Whatley of Jena; five nieces, Mrs. R.S. Wright, Mrs. Edith Evans and Mrs. Hilda Carrol, all of Jena, Mrs. Pearl Lilltle of Wink, Texas and Mrs. Bernice Stien of New Orleans; eight nephews, Fred Stone of Corpus Cristi, Texas, Walter Stone of Jena, C.C. Stone and Ray White of Houston, Texas, Cliff White of Wink, Texas, Wayne White of New Orleans, Rex White of Lake Charles and Jack Roark of Quenah, Texas. Pallbearers were Ray White, Wayne White, Darnell Stone, C.C. Stone, John Crooks and Jimmy White.
