All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Mary Whatley, Lifetime resident of LaSalle, passes away Mrs. Mary Jane Whatley, member of one of the oldest families in LaSalle Parish, died Monday, Sept. 23, 1946 at 10:30 a.m., at the age of 77. Mrs. Whatley was the wife of the late well known Arch Whatley. She died at her home near White Sulphur Springs. Mrs. Whatley was born in LaSalle Parish, December 20, 1864, the daughter of U.V. and Virginia Mashburn Whatley. She joined the Methodist church at an early age, living a Christain life and remaining active in church work as long as health permitted. She was a neice of the late weel known Rev. Sam Hugh Whatley, prominent Methodist minister in Central Louisiana during his lifetime. The deceased is survived by two sons and two daughters, Mr. Bert Whatley and Arch Whatley of Trout, Rt. 1, and Mrs. Charles Whatley, Trout, Rt. 1, and Mrs. Floyd Whatley, Winnfield; a brother, Carter Whatley, Livingston, California, and two sisters, Mrs. J.E. Whatley, Trout, Rt. 1, and Mrs. J.G. Kitterlin, Dallas, Texas. Funeral services were held at the family residence Tuesday, Sept, 24 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Howell, pastor of Trout Methodist Chursch conducting services. Interment was in Whatley cemetery. Nephews of the deceased served as pallbearers. Hixson Bros. Conducted all funeral arrangements.
