J. P. Owens officiating. Interment was to be in the Belah Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Whatley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jena. She was born at Manifest on March 16, 1882. She was the daughter of Abern Taylor and Addie Fisher Taylor. Surviving her are her husband, Mr. J. A. Whatley of Jena; two sons, Wade Whatley of Picayune, Miss., and Belva Whatley of the U. S. Air Corps; three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Beebe of Pineville, Mrs. H. B. Kirkland of Jonesville, and Mrs. L. P. Chevallier of Port Arthur, Tex. Three brothers, Walter Taylor of Harrisonburg, Boone Taylor of Pineville, and Mayfield Taylor of Pineville; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Coleman, Jonesville, and Mrs. Bullard Faunton of Jonesville. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
