B. Chisum, gravel contractor, died suddenly and almost instantaneously last Thursday afternoon shortly before 3 o'clock while at work. Mr. Woodard reportedly had started to get out of his truck after arriving at a gravel pit for another load when he was stricken. By the time nearby workmen could reach him, he reportedly was dead. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of God in Jena, with the Rev. J. W. Blow conducting the final rites. Interment followed in Hair Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Mr. Woodard is survived by his mother, Mrs. LaVella Woodard of Jena; a son, Ancil of Jena; a daughter, Marilyn Ros of Jena; a sister, Enola Woodard of Jena; four aunts, Mrs. Mae McHaney, Mrs. Gertie Benson, Mrs. Gladys Norman, and Mrs. Izy Ainsworth, all of Jena, and two uncles, Ferman and Floyd Brown, both of Jena. Serving as pallbearers for the final rites were Oliver Neal, LeRoy Rodriguez, Morgan Baker, Dalton Coleman, Woodrow Joy and Ivan Hinson.
