Womack, Prominent Catahoula Citizen, Passes Dec. 25 Mr. A. N. Womack, a native of Catahoula Parish and brother of Grover C. Womack, State Senator from Catahoula, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day, at 6 p.m. in the Baptist Hospital at Alexandria. Mr. Womack, who lived at Manifest, had been in ill health several years and was a patient at the Baptist Hospital on three occasions since his condition became acute in September 1945. Death was caused by cancer. A. N. Womack was born Nov. 22, 1878 at Manifest, Catahoula Parish, La., the son of J. G. and Annie Womack. He was 67 years, 1 month, 3 days old at the time of his demise. January 11, 1898, Mr. Womack was married to Eliza McMillin at Manifest where the couple made their home until 1911 when they moved to Orange, Texas. After seven years residence at Orange, the family returned to Manifest in 1918 to remain. Member of a prominent family, Mr. Womack himself was widely known. While residing at Orange, Texas, he engaged in the rice business. After retiring and returning to Manifest, he was active in church work and political affairs in Catahoula Parish. He was engaged in mercantile business at the time of death. He was well liked by all who knew him and was known as a man of integrity and thoroughly dependable at all times. Funeral services for the deceased were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 26, 1945, at Manifest Baptist Church of which he was a member. Rev. B. A. Miley and Rev. Thompson Doughty brought the final message. Interment was in Heard Cemetery, Manifest. Left to mourn his passing are: his wife, one daughter, Miss Hazel Womack of Alexandria; one sister, Miss Lottie Womack, Manifest; three brothers, G. C. Womack, Manifest, and J. E. and B. A. Womack, Orange, Texas; two half-sisters, Mrs. J. E. Webb, Orange, Texas, and Mrs. W. T. Posey, Jena; two half brothers, W. W. Womack and H. W. Womack, Orange Texas. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the last rites were: Wade McMillin and family, Rodessa, La., Ovie McMillin and family and Mrs. Media McMillin, Sulphur, La.; Mrs. Drew McMillin and daughter, Verlie, Routoun Fairbanks, Oscar Breaux, J. E. Womack and family, Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Womack, Dr. L. O. Thompson, Donald Cohenour, all of Orange, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Ira McMillin of Alexandria, and Mrs. Burks and daughter of Monroe, La. Pallbearers were: E. S. Fairbanks, Rube Fritz, Woolie Fairbanks, of Jonesville; Oliver Tanton, Harrisonburg; Sherman Wright and Ronald Richardson, Manifest. Kinner & Stevens Home for Funerals were in charge of arrangements.
