Wade Passes Away on Monday Ev'ng Dr. William Fred Wade, aged 48 years, 1 month and 17 days, passed away at this home in Good Pine Monday afternoon at 5:05 o'clock from an illness similar to paralysis. At eight o'clock Monday morning, just after having arisen from his bed, Dr. Wade witnessed a stroke, which rendered his entire left side in a paralytic condition until his death. He retained consciousness until eleven o'clock that day, but his suffering was intense. Throughout the day he lingered on, but death was looked for momentarily. All the medical skill that his brother physicians of Jena, Trout, and Alexandria could render proved of no avail and he passed away peacefully at 5:05, surrounded by members of the family, with the exception of his two oldest boys and one brother who had been notified of the seriousness of his illness, but who had not had time to arrived before the end came. Dr. Wade was born near Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish, August 30th, 1879, the son of William Ira Wade and Nancy Bambrick Wade. His mother passed away only a few years after his birth. His father died in 1901 after which he began the study of medicine in Memphis Medical College, working his way through that institution, graduating with the class in 1906. Immediately after graduating from medical college, Dr. Wade came to Good Pine where he has practiced medicine continuously since the latter part of that year. On August 16, 1908, he was married to Miss Mary Futtrell, to which union four sons were born, three of whom survive him. They are William, Hundley and Jack. Besides his wife and three sons, Dr. Wade is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Cleo Wade, of Jena, and four brothers: J. H. Wade, of Port Allen; E. F. Wade, whose present address is unknown, C. M. and J. P. Wade, of Jena. Funeral services were held at the Jena Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3:30, Rev. A. B. Moses, pastor of the Good Pine Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made in the Jena Cemetery, the services being conducted by Carietta Lodge No. 320, Free and Accepted Masons, of which Dr. Wade was an ardent member. He also held membership in the Shreveport Consistory, Scottish Rite Masonry, El-Karubah Temple; Order of the Mystic Shrine; LaSalle Medical Association, American Medical Association, and the Southern Medical Society. Evidence of Dr. Wade's popularity was evidenced by the hundreds of people who attended the funeral and the beautiful floral offerings from friends throughout Central Louisiana.
