He was a member of the Jena Town Council and was last week elected mayor pro-tem. He would have completed his second term on the council this summer. He also was a Mason and a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Nolley memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Barksdale and the Rev. John Sewell officiating. Burial followed in Nolley Cemetery under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ella Boddie Walker, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Woods of Jena and Mrs. Beth Coyle of Lexington, Ky.; one brother, Clarence B. Walker of Jena; one sister, Miss Lena Walker of Jean; and six grandchildren.
