Lloyd Wishum, 53, Jena cafe operator, died this (Thurs.) morning at the Jena hospital shortly after 8 o'clock following a heart attack at home Wednesday night. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the First Baptist church of Jena, where he was an active member, with interment following in Belah Cemetery. The Rev. J. P. Owens, pastor, and the Rev. J. P. Buth of Bellvue Baptist Church will conduct the rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Home for Funerals, Jena. Mr. Wishum is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rubye Wishum who is secretary at the First Baptist Church of Jena; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Hubbard of Many and Miss Catherine Wishum of Jena; a sister, Mrs. C. B. Chevallier of Jena; four brothers, Clarence of Jonesville, Troy of Columbia, Dewey of Alexandria and Cliff of Jena, and one grandson, John DeWayne Hubbard of Many. Mr. Wishum is the son of the late James W. and Emma Hudnall Wishum. Prior to opening Lloyd's Cafe on Highway 84 West next door to the Welch Pontiac Company, Mr. Wishum had followed the trade of butcher. Lloyd's Cafe rapidly grew into one of the most popular restaurants in this area and was the official meeting place of the Jena Kiwanis Club and the Jena WOW Organization. In addition to Mr. Wishum, three other of the brothers are in the cafe business - Clarence, Troy and Cliff - according to information received by this paper. Mr. Wishum was a native and longtime resident of this area. After having moved away, he and his family returned to Jena about 12 years ago. Although he reportedly had a heart condition of long standing, he was thought to be in good health until the time of this attack. He had gone fishing Wednesday and returned home about supper time, this paper was informed. He became ill about midnight but at first thought it was "just a touch of indigestion." However, about 3 a.m. he was persuaded to enter the hospital where he died about 8 o'clock this (Thurs.) morning.
