She died just three weeks after her marriage to the love of her life, Chris Yaryan. Chris is the son of former Jena residents, Kathy and Van Yaryan of Silver City, New Mexico. Tamara was the Artistic Director and Master Teacher of the Believe in Me Project, Inc., Texas affiliate of the Association of National Dance Institutes, a program that benefits school children through the arts. For the past three seasons, Tamara had danced professionally with Stillpoint Dance Company of Austin. Previously she performed with several companies in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex including Contemporary Dance, Heels and Nobs Theatre Dance Collective and JAADE Dance Theatre. Tamara graduated from TCU in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ballet and Modern Dance. While a student, she received the most outstanding Choreographer Award for her Glass Panes (1996) and 2 Days after Soria Moria (1997). Tamara was a Rotary Exchange Student in Norway in 1991-92 and while there, she studied at the Norwegian Ballet Institute in Oslo. A celebration of Tamara's life was held Monday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church in Silver City, N. M. There will also be a memorial service at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Silver City on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. In addition to her husband, Chris, she is survived by her parents, Carol and Irvin Barrington of Silver City; five sisters, Shelby, Linda, Jana, Beverly, and Gail, and their families; her grandmother, Meg Smith; and extended family and host of friends.
