According to witnesses, Yawn, who was almost completely deaf, walked into the bus while crossing the highway. The bus was not being driven at an excessive rate of speed but the driver was unable to halt the machine before Yawn's body had been struck and dragged about twenty feet, reports said. Yawn was a resident of the Belay community and is survived by his mother, Mrs. Alice Yawn; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Prather and one brother, Harry Yawn. Funeral services were held at Belah Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. D. F. Anders, pastor of the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church at Jena, with interment in the Belah Cemetery.
