Peppers, 78, a LaSalle Parish Constable, died at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, January 1, 1998, in St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria. He was retired as a roustabout in the oilfield industry, a member of East Jena Baptist Church, a member of Michael Dempsey Lodge F&AM No. 327, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Services were held at 2 pn. 3 at East Jena Baptist Church with Rev. Craig James officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery of Rhinehart under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Earline Fuller Peppers of Jena; two daughters, Eileen head of Jena and Yvette McCullin of Shrevepor step-daughter, Jean Bailey of Dry Prong; two step-sons, Wade Fuller and Kent Fuller, both of Dry Prong; one sister, Odell Karriker of Jena; one brother, Homer Peppers of Jena; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were W.G. Wilson, Huey Martin, Dudley Walker, John Smolocki, Jeff Black and Darrell Black. Honorary pallbearers were Wade Fuller, Kent Fuller, Steve Cripps, Joe Tarpley, Terry Head, Terry McCullin, Marion Terral and Virgil Terral. Memorials may be made to the Youth Fund at East Jena Baptist Church or to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital of Shreveport. (The Jena Times, Wednesday, January 7, 1998)
