He was an oilfield consultant, member of Bellvue Baptist Church and Micheal Dempsey Lodge No. 327, F&AM and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was born August 21, 1930 in Jena to the Union of George and Dollie Ford Peyton. Services were held Saturday, September 6, 1997 at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home with Revs. Jimmy Keene and Mike Moss officiating. Interment followed in the Nolley Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery of Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include two daughters, Sonja Comeaux of Lafayette; Jane Hamner of Jena; one son, George Michael Peyton of Lafayette; one sister, Emma Katherine Day of Elizabeth Town, Ky.; two brothers, Glen Oscar Peyton of Shubuta, Ms. and John Ray Peyton of Broussard; and six grandchildren.
