Peppers, 75, of Jena, died at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 1998, at the Willis Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport. His death came five days after the death of his wife, Opal Goodman Pappers, who died September 12, 1998. He was better known as "Pep" and was a retired forester with International Paper Co. And later retired from the LaSalle Soil and Water Conservation District after serving as a director and employee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jena and a veteran of the armed services. He was born September 18, 1922, at Lillie. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 19, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with the Rev. Arnold Norsworthy and Dr. William Poe officiating. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, in Jonesboro City Cemetery with burial under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. Survivors include one daughter, Diane Brown of Shreveport; one sister, Ruth Glover of Bernice; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Joe Paul Stevens, Floyd Perritt, Bo Waits, Lamar Poole, Herman Williams and Bill Davis.
