Paul. Reverand Wilson, of Columbia, M. T. Doughty, of Tullos; E. C. Autrey, of Tullos and B. M. Goodwin, of Jena conducted the services which were under the direction of Kinner and Stevens local undertakers. "Uncle Union", as Mr. Paul was affectionately know by practically every man, woman and child in this section, died from heart trouble while visiting one of his daughters at Walters. He died at 4 a.m. Thursday and was 70 years, 10 months and 14 days of age at the time of his death. Always active in the affairs of the parish. "Uncle Union" was one of the leaders for parish division. In later years he distinguished himself by his political activities, but was never known to hold an important public office. He had a friendly smile for all who met him and it was not often that he lost his temper and then only for what he thought was right, just or best. The deceased is survived by the following sons and daughters: C. C. Paul, registrar of voters for LaSalle,; Theodore Paul, of Kilgore, Texas; Mrs. Anna Bradford, Mrs. Lillian Bradford, of Walters and Mrs. Luella Kendrick. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren are numerous as are his many relatives and friends.
