He worked for Concordia Electric Co-op for 31 years and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 1991, in the Chapel of Hixson Bros. Funeral home in Jena, with the Revs. Finas Corie and Jimmy Evans officiating. Burial was in the Belah Cemetery, under direction of hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. He is survived by his wife, Iva Parker of Jena; one daughter, Angela Parker of jena; two brothers, Eldred Parker of Jena and Jesse Parker of Pearland, Texas; six sisters, Louise Mitchell and Levita Richardson, both of Jena, Ruby Lee of Shreveport and Christine reeves, Sybil Evans and Mary Taylor, all of Trout. Pallbearers were Tommy Reeves, Ronnie Parker, Glenn Lee, Don Valentine, Richard Mitchell and Randy Parker.
