Opal Elvena Rowell, 68, of Jena, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, September 21, 
1997, in St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. She was a homemaker. 
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 in the Chapel of Hixson 
Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Preston Holder and John Spears 
officiating. Burial followed in the Double Churches Cemetery of Winnfield 
under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc., of Jena.

Survivors include her husband, T. J. Rowell of Jena; two daughters, Elvena L. 
Spears of Jena and Linda E. McDowell of Trout; two sons, Tandy Rowell of West 
Monroe and John Terry Rowell of Winnfield; one sister, Audette Price of West 
Monroe; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Robby McDowell, Jason McDowell, Junior Trahan, Tony Merritt, 
John Eric Rowell, Jeremy Rowell, Tervor Rowell and Kevin Brooks.
