All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** John Arthur Routon John Arthur Routon, 67, of Jonesville, died Sunday, December 6, 1998, at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. A life-long resident of Catahoula Parish, he was born March 22, 1931, to the union of Tolbert Arthur Routon, Jr. and Myrtle Routon. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonburg where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Supervisor for many years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 110, F&AM in Harrisonburg since 1968 where he served as Master of the Lodge and Secretary for many years. He was also a 32nd degree mason and member of the Monroe Scottish Rite Bodies, and served as District Deputy of the 4th District Masonry of the State of Louisiana. Routon was retired County Supervisor of the Farmers Home Administration. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Harrisonburg First Baptist Church with the Revs. Tom Boone and Jerry Price officiating. Interment followed in Harrisonburg Cemetery under direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Poole Routon of Jonesville; one son, J. Kevin Routon of Jonesville; one daughter, Karla Routon McGuffee of Jonesville; two sisters, Vera Rae Smith and Glenda Routon Shivers, both of Jonesville; and twin granddaughters. Pallbearers were C. F. Routon, Jr., Harold G. Routon, Ray Routon, Jr., Ron Routon, Rox Routon, and Robert Routon. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Harrisonburg and members of the Harrisonburg Masonic Lodge No. 110, F&AM. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
