According to local officials, the men had been camped on the river in a house boat with John Hamilton, Clarence Foster, Tom Meade and Good Lemmons for the past two days and had been hunting in that region. Early Wednesday morning they set out in the skiff for Catahoula lake and it is thought that the boat was overloaded, causing it to capsize and drowning Robertson and his son. The other four men swam to the bank while up to noon Wednesday no trace of the bodies of the two unfortunate men had been found, although the river was being dragged in an effort to locate them.
