Sandifer, 78, of Jena, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, March 22, 1998, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Joel Johnson and Joey Paul officiating. Interment followed in the Renfrow Cemetery of Jena under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Bettye Allbritton Sandifer of Jena; one daughter, Glenda Cooper of Fairveiw; two sons, Joe Sandifer and Jeff Sandifer, both of Jena; five sisters, Myrtle Owens of Bakersfield, Ca., Irene Smith of Jena, Gussie Odom and Ocie Shieber, both of Pineville and Inez McGinness of Monita, Va.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry Phillips, Clifford Phillips, Matt Cooper, Paul Smith, Howard McCarty and James Allbritton. (The Jean Times, Wednesday, March 25, 1998)
