Smith Essie Chelette Smith, 89, of Pineville, died Saturday, December 19, 1998, in LaSalle General Hospital of Jena. She was a homemaker. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 22, in First Baptist Church of Pollock with the Revs. Mickey Hudnall and Ralph Milan officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery near Pollock under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Hudnall of Jena and Cora S. Ore of Pineville; one son, W. E. Smith, Jr., of Sterlington; one sister, Dura Cline of Ocala, Fla.; one brother, W. L. Chelette of Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Danny Smith, David Hudnall, Michael Ore, Joe Henderson, Jim Byron, Villa Fuselier, Kevin Wilson, and Bert McGuffee. Honorary pallbearers were Byron Poole, Evan Thacker, Troy Trahan, Ollie Fuselier, Itieula Tilo, Chris Ore, and Curtis Ore.
