Smith, Sr. Is Buried Wednesday Funeral services for James Allen Smith, Sr. of Jena, a retired farmer, were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the East Jena Baptist church. The Revs. J. R. Miller and J. L. Holt, assisted by Rev. Oscar Bradford, conducted the final rites, with interment following in Jena cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers funeral home. Mr. Smith, a native of LaSalle parish, was 73 years and 14 days old. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Smith of Jena; four sons, Earl and Woodrow, both of Jena, James Allen, Jr., of Ferriday and Perry of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Charlie Boddie of Taylor, Mrs. Carl White of Jena and Mrs. Herman Creed of Jena; a brother, Groves Smith of Nebo route, Jena; five sisters, Mrs. Mollie Clark, Miss Nancy Smith and Mrs. Bell Randall, all of Jena, Mrs. Mattie Garland and Mrs. J. W. S ???? A grandson, Earl ???, Jr. is a member of Jena Times Staff. Pallbearers were Huey Smith, Fred ??? Rufus Smith, ???
