He was a retired logger. Services were scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Revs. Hardy Beaubouef, Troy Cockerham and Jim Smith, officiating. Burial was to follow at Hawthorne Cemetery of Little Creek under direction of Hixson Brothers of Jena. Survivors include a son, Garthian "Slim" Stapleton of Jena; a daughter, Aundria "Andy" Haynes of Jena; two sisters, Lena Wilson of Georgetown and Eva Lena Qualls of Cureo, Texas; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
