He was a retired oil field worker and veteran of World War II. Services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home with Revs. Melvin Tisdale and Terry Coley, officiating. Burial followed at Chalk Hill Cemetery of Little Creek with arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include two sons, Ralph Simmons Jr. and Richard Simmons, both of Pineville; three brothers, Woodie Simmons and Bill Simmons, both of Trout and Lannie Simmons of Louisville, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Black of Lafayette; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were A. D. Erwin, Jim Arbogast, Larry Martin, Jimmy Arbogast, G. H. Glidewell and Jerry Glidewell.
