Strong, a commercial fisherman, left his home in Pineville about 10 a.m. Thursday morning going to the lake. Late that afternoon, two hunters who knew Strong, spotted his truck near Catahoula Lake, but could not locate the fisherman. They notified the sheriff's office, but Sheriff Taylor said the water in the lake was too rough to launch a search for the body Thursday night. However, shortly after the search began Friday morning, the body was recovered by sheriff's deputies about three-fourths mile from the bank. Sheriff Taylor said that apparently the small boat he had gone out in had capsized when it hit rough waves in the lake. Funeral services for Strong were held Saturday at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home chapel in Pineville. Burial was in Alexandria Memorial Gardens. A native of Simmsport, all of Strong's close relatives live in Pineville and Alexandria.
