She was born October 2, 1909, at Lincecum, Louisiana. She was a member of Selma Methodist Church for many years. During her lifetime, she taught in the Georgetown School and later she owned and operated a retail store. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Smith served out his term as Grant Parish Assessor. She also served as a member of the Louisiana State Hospital Board. At one time, she was very active in the Easter Star having been elected Worthy matron in the Order of Easter Star Chapter 71, two times. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, at Selma Methodist Church in Georgetown with Rev. Richard Butts officiating. Burial followed at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Pineville under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. Survivors include on son, William L.
