He was a retired security guard and a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 7, at Chickasaw Cemetery near Olla with Rev. Byron Norris officiating. Burial was under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include one brother, Rev. Lawrence "Pete" Turner of Jena; two sisters, Margie Creel of Jonesville and Shirley Crowell of Quitman, Texas. Pallbearers were Randy Boyd, Kenneth Boyd, Larry Creel, and Everett Creel.
