(Jim) Thompson, 82-year-old retired carpenter and well-known LaSalle Parish resident, died last Saturday afternoon, March 22, 1980, at the Rapides General Hospital. For years, Mr. Jim as he was known, operated a boat landing and bait stand on Kitterlin Creek in the Rogers community. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Ganey and Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lowella Thompson of Rogers; four daughters, Mrs. Annie Hebert, Mrs. Odie Hanner and Miss Marderette Thompson, all of Rogers and Mrs. Irene Holden of Alexandria; four sons, Cecil Thompson and Gerald Thompson of Rogers; Odis Thompson of Coushatta and Gene Thompson, of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Biggson of Pollock and Mrs. Ruby Maynoro of Jena; one half-sister, Mrs. Virginia Edwards; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dennis Hebert, Dale Thompson, Mike Thompson, Jimmy Hebert, J. W. Gibbons and C. M. Boyd.
