Deceased was a native of Catahoula parish, where he lived a greater part of his life and where he was prominent in the business and political life of the parish. He served for several years as clerk of court of Catahoula parish and was engaged in the merchantile business at Harrisonburg for a number of years. He was left an orphan at an early age and was reared by his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Heard, who resided near Jena. He was known to his intimate friends as "Harve." He was possessed of a genial and kindly demeanor, and had a large circle of friends who will regrett his passing. He had resided in Alexandria for the past fifteen years or more. He was the popular proprietor of the Taylor House at the corner of Fourth and Washington streets. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie Taylor; one son, J.A. Taylor of Alexandria; four daughters, Mrs. C.L. Steadman of Hodge, Mrs. J.E. Files of Oak Ridge, Mrs. W.J. Moore of Alexandria, and Mrs. J.E. Heidings- felded of Port Arthur, Texas; one brother, J.A. Taylor of Manifest. He was a long-life member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services was be held at 4 p.m., Monday in Emmanuel Baptist Church of Alexandria. Interment were made in Greenwood memorial Park, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers.
