Mr. Talley was born on December 20, 1957 in Olla to the union of Billy Albert and Ann Nethery Talley and died Saturday, February 7, 2004. He was employed as a tool pusher with Poole Drilling Company. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Date: September 8, 2004, page 8 B Headline: Ima Miles Taylor Ima Miles Taylor, 86, of Jena, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004, in the Golden Age Nursing Center of Jena following an extended illness. She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was an employee of the LaSalle Parish School Borad system, having worked several years in the Jena High School lunchroom. She was later a staff member of the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Department where she served as the meal planner and cook for the parish jail. An avid fisherman, Mrs. Taylor enjoyed many many hours "drowning worms and shiners" with family and friends in area creeks, lakes, rivers, bayous and bar pits. Her patience in teaching her children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, etc., the enjoyment and sport of fishing was limitless. She loved to go fishing and catching any, was secondary to having a great time enjoying the outdoors and those she was with. Mr. Taylor was a retired production maintenance man with Penrod Oil Company. He was a veteran of the Veitnam War where he served in the Army and was awarded the Purple Heart and and the Silver Star. He was of the Baptist faith. The graveside service was at Greenview Memorial Park, Florence, Tuesday, May 27, at 1 p.m. Officiating was by Dr. Bill Trapp, pastor of Woodmont Baptist Church. Taylor graduated from Coffee High School and attended Auburn University. He owned Bellanger Printing Co., in Florence. He was born in Olla, the son of L. H. Taylor and grandson of Dr. William Vannah Taylor, III, a pioneer doctor of LaSalle Parish. Taylor received his early education at Olla-Standard Grammar School. Taylor served in the 338th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart and the Air Medal. He was taken prisoner after being shot down over Germany. Taylor was active in the Florence Post No. 11, American Legion and was a member of the National American Ex-Prisoners of War. He is survived by a son, William Vannah Taylor VI, Huntsville; daughter, Sallie Taylor Pollock, Hohenwald, Tenn.; three sisters, Elise Matthews, Shreveport; Martha Griffin, Florence; and Elizabeth Cummings, Columbia; and five grand-children.
