She was secretary of the Cenla Citizens Band Radio Club and a member of Summerville Baptist Church. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with Revs. Howard Arnold and Johnny Garrett and Dr. Pat Davis officiating. Thomas, 87, of Jena, died Monday, November 25, 2002, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena. He was a retired store owner and of the Baptist faith. He operated Thomas Grocery Store on La. 8 near Jena for many years. Services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29, at the L&A Baptist Church near Jena with the Rev. Woodrow Pellerin officiating. Interment followed in the Webster Cemetery of Good Pine under direction of Gayden Funeral Home of Jena. She was a housewife and member of the Baptist Church. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Aimwell Baptist Church with Revs. S. B. Spinks and Elton Cahoon officiating. Burial followed in Hair Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Jabus D. She was a member of Tullos First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Tidwell served as a salesperson for Avon Cosmetics for many years. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 14, at the First Baptist Church in Tullos with Rev. George Treutline officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pineville under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam E. Tidwell, Sr.; her parents, Bill and Dailth Long; and two brothers Marshall "Hot" Long and Pete Long. Survivors include two sons, Sam E. Tidwell, Jr. and wife Rena of Grayson, and George William Tidwell of Tullos; one brother, William David "Buck" Long of Baton Rouge; one grandchild, Sam E. Warren of Tullos; two great-grandchidren.
