She was a retires aide with Pinecrest State School in Pineville and a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Jena. Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 1, at the First United Pentecostal Church of Jena with the Revs. Crawford Coon, Wayne Pounders and Gary Davidson officiating. Burial followed in the Belah Cemetery of trout under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include two sons, Larry Wayne Whatley of Anacoco and James Melvin Whatley of Jena; two sisters, Pearl Ganey of Ball and Annie Alford of Pelahatchie, Ms.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Fred Alford, Paul Nugent, David Alford, Lavena Ganey, Elmer Boyd and Garry Alford. Honorary pallbearers were Dean Paul and James Lavel Doughty.
