He was an operations manager for Petroleum Service Corporation where he had worked for 25 years. He was also a member of the Parkview Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. He was born in Start on Nov. 6, 1950, to the union of Freddie O. and Ira Keene Wilkes. Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 30, at the Grayson Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Gullett and Cordell Haymon officiating. Disposition will be private among family only. The arrangements were handled by Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Linda Russell Wilkes of Houston; two sons, F. Jeffery Wilkes of Orlando, Fla., and Cullen Hardy Wilkes of Houston; one daughter, Cara W. Kernan of Baton Rouge; one brother, Eddie C. Wilkes of Gonzales; his grandmother, Lucy Briley Wilkes of Start and two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Gary Watts, C.H. Boyd, Jason Watts, Dennis Jacobson, Darren Jacobson and Chris Jacobson.
