He was a retired farmer. Services were held on Saturday, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena with Rev. Charles Johnson and Rev. john Lee Dayton, officiating. Burial followed in the Belah Cemetery of Trout under arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alice Gray Whatley of Trout; one brother, Bert Whatley of Trout; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Whatley of Trout and Mrs. May Whatley of Winnfield. Pallbearers were Jess Whatley, Vincent Whatley, Roger Whatley, Otha Whatley, Sidney Cotton Jr and Ralph Sanders.
