Williams, 33, died shortly before noon Tuesday, July 17, 1990, at Humana Hospital in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He had remained in a coma since being admitted to the hospital early Sunday night. He was stricken while on a weekend vacation with his family in Ft. Walton. As word spread through Jena and the area on Monday, the whole community appeared in shock as prayers were offered for Cliff and his family. Everyone went quietly about their work, but their minds remained on this youthful leader and his family. His friends remembered his quiet spoken words of encouragement and his role as a leader in so many community activities. Cliff's life touched so many people in Jena as well as the business world to which he was associated, and all will mis the talent and leadership he demonstrated. In 1980, he joined Justiss Oil Company of Jena as a drilling engineer. He assumed the responsibility of Vice-President of Operations in 1982 and has managed all of Justiss' drilling activities throughout the south central states. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Justiss Oil Company, the Bank of Jena and the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). He was Vice-President of the IADC ArkLaTex region and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Williams was a member of the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board as Chairman of Finance. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Jena with the Revs. Paul Carroll and Dr. R.C. Hammock, officiating.
