He was a retired forest ranger and a deacon of New Union Baptist Church near Tullos. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at New Union Baptist Church with the Revs. Huey Tarpley, Randy Wiggins, Julius Russell and Lawrence King, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Gaharan Waggoner of Tullos; one son, Bernard Waggoner of Logansport; one daughter, Avis Mae Waggoner Barrett of Monroe; a brother, Carnot Waggoner of Olla; two sisters, Ruby Tarver of Olla and Ethel Fultz of Orange, Texas; five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wayne Waggoner, Roland Champhane, Randy Wiggins, Wayne Lupo, Randall Tarver, Owen Russell, Ira Ganey and Harold Allbritton.
