Wade, 35, principal of the Manifest High School and former member of the Jena High School faculty, came as a distinct shock to his many friends here. Mr. Wade died on arrival at a Ferriday hospital Tuesday shortly before 10 p.m. less than three hours after he shot himself at his home in Manifest with a .22 pistol. Alone in his room, the principal shot himself through the right temple. Upon hearing the shot, Mrs. Wade and Mrs Annie Webb, with whom the Wades were staying, ran into the room and found Mr. Wadde on the floor. He was taken to Ferriday in a Jena Ambulance. No reason was given for the shooting, and he apparently was in excellent health. Dr. P.W. Calliham, parish coroner, who pronounced the death a suicide, said. It was said that Mr. Wade left letters addressed to his wife and mother. Funeral services were held at the Manifest Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 23 at 4 p.m., with Revs. Lee Brooks and Thompson Doughty of Rhinehart and Manifest officiating. Interment took place at the Heard Cemetery near Manifest, and funeral direction was in charge of Upshaw Funeral Home, Jena. For a number of years Mr. Wade resided here and as school teacher and prominent citizen, made many friends in the surrounding territory. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his widow, the former Julia Sheppard, of Jena and his mother, Mrs. Mary Wade of Amite, La. During the summer the deceased was employed by the AAA at Harrisonburg. Pallbearers: J.
