Interment will follow in the Olla Cemetery in Olla under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Mr. Whitehead was born in Olla on June 12, 1929 to the union of Ray and Hazel Napier Whitehead and died Monday, September 29, 2003 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was a retired owner and operator of Pearl and Sid's in Kelly for 25 years and was a retired wood contractor for International Paper Company. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Air Force. Survivors include his wife: Peggy Davis Whitehead of Olla, his sons and daughters-in-law: Carl and Joni Whitehead of West Monroe, Joel and Suzanne Whitehead of Olla and Matt and Vicki Whitehead of West Monroe, his daughters and sons-in-law: Donna and Dexter Evans of Brandon, Ms., and Deborah and Victor Martinez of The Woodlands, Tx., his brother and sister-in-law: Ronald and Linda Whitehead of Louisville, Ms., eight grandsons, one granddaughter and one great-grandson. Date: July 16, 1936, Thursday Headline: Rosefield Lady Was Buried Near Grayson on Tuesday, July 6 Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Whitehead, 76, who died at her home near Rosefield Monday night of last week at 8 o'clock, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. V. D. Morris, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Columbia in charge of the services. Interment was made in the Welcome Home Cemetery near Grayson. Mrs. Whitehead is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Julia Whitehead, and Mrs. Florida Curiagton of Rosefield. The deceased was well known in the Rosefield section having resided in LaSalle Parish for the past 22 years.
