Date: October 26, 2005; Page 18A Headline: Madelle Hines Wright, 84, of Jena, died at 7:16 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2005, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. Mrs. Wright was retired with 37 years of service with Louisiana Power and Light Company. Mrs. Wright and her late husband, Monroe C. Wright, owned and operated Wright's Otasco Store in Jena for many years. She was an active member of the community having served as local Girl Scouts leader, V.F.W. Auxiliary, as well as social and charitable activities as the Jena First Baptist Church where she was a member for over 60 years. Her parents, the late Thomas and Evie Monk Hines, were charter members of the Midway Baptist Church, where as a young girl, she served as athe church pianist. Mrs. Wright enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband, swimming, fishing, and opening her home to friends and family as a very loving asn gracious hostess. She was born August 17, 1921 at Jena to the union of Thomas and Evie Monk Hines. Services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 20, at First Baptist Church in Jena with Rev. Dominick DiCarlo officiating. Interment followed in the Nolley Memorial Cemetery of Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe D. Wright; her parents; and a sister, Mary E. Harris. Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Powell of Jena; one son, Tommy Wright of Jena; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Thomas Wright, Will Bridges, Greg Fallon, Jamie Hall, Edwin Wright, and Tony Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Donny Sheppard, Perry Little, James Noel, and Wendell Wilson. Date: May 28, 1942 Headline: Prominent jonesville resident Succumbs One of Jonesville's most prominent pioneer citizens, Charles A. Wurster, 78, died May 22 at 3 a.m. in the Ferriday hospital. Funeral services were held in Jonesville, May 23 at 2 p.m. with Dr. H. G. Kennedy of Jonesville officiating. Interment was made at Jonesville cemetery under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Mr. Wurster was prominent in business, civic and social activities. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Surviving ale: three nephews, John A., Oscar and Charles L.
