Date: January 17, 2001, Wednesday Headline: Area Deaths – Agnes Paul Yule Agnes Paul Yule, 76, of DeBerry, Texas and formerly of LaSalle Parish, died at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2001, in Bossier City. She was a homemaker and was born September 12, 1924, at Nebo to the union of Willie Houston and Dottie Wilson Paul. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. J. D. Favors and Gary Norris officiating. Interment followed in the Nebo Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include four daughters, Shannon Eppes of Shreveport, Sandra Peavy and Suzanne Carroll, both of DeBerry, Tx., and Mollie Hopkins of Seminole, Okla.; five sons, Willie Yule of New Orleans, David Yule and Thomas Yule, both of Carthage, Tx., Mark Yule and Sam Yule, both of Jena; four brothers, Jewell Paul of Nebo, Fox Paul and Tommy Paul, both of Jena, and Bill Paul of Haughton; 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. DAte: Thursday, June 7, 1934 Dr. Zeigler Dies at Home of Sister in Ola Last Sunday Funeral services were held at the LeCompte Baptist church on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock for Dr. Allen G. Zeagler, aged 45, interment following in the Greenwood Memorial cemetery in Pineville. Dr. Zeagler, a former citizen of Olla, died at the home of his siter Mrs. Percy Prestridge in Olla, on Sunday. He had been in ill health for some time and was transferred from his LeCompte home to the home of his siter where he was receiving treatment when death came. A member of one of the oldest and most highly respected families of this section, Dr. Zeagler, after completely his elementary and medical education located in LeCompte where he was successful in his chosen profession. He married Miss Paerl Baily, to which one son Rodney, and one daughter, Miss Melbaise, were born. They with their mother, survive him. He also leaves two brothers, B.E. and W.C. Microfilm at the LaSalle Parish Library located in Jena, LaSalle Parish, La. Date: September 17, 1936 Headline: Mrs. Zeagler Dies at Her Olla Home on Thursday Night The death of Mrs. B. E. Zeagler, 48, of Olla, on last Thursday night came as a distinct shock as well as a surprise to her legion of friends throughout Central Louisiana where she had spent the major portion of her life. Mrs. Zeagler was born in Webster Parish. She was the wife of B. E. Zeagler, cashier of the Olla State Bank, and had always taken an active interest in the social and religious life of her community. She had been in ill health for sometime, but it was thought that her condition had improved considerably and her death was indeed a shock to all who knew and loved her for her kindly disposition. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Olla at 10 am. Saturday with Rev. E. M. Daffin, pastor of the Olla Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. J. E. Hearn of Sterlington and Rev. R. L. Bridges of Good Pine. Interment followed in the Olla Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Olla. The deceased leaves he husband and one son, Benny Mims Zeagler to mourn her passing. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Y. W. Flower of Olla and two half-brothers, W. D. Night Benjamin Ezra Zeagler, 73, who died at his home in Olla, Thursday night following a lengthy illness was buried today (Friday) at ? o.clock following services held at First Baptist church of Olla of which he had been a member since 1921. An outstanding civic, business and church leader, MR. Zeagler was associated with the Olla State Bank for 32 years, retiring in April 1951, at which time he was vice president and cashier of the bank. He recieved his early education in the public shoools of Catahoula parish before that portion became LaSalle parish and later attended business college in Houston, Texas. Mr. Zeagler was the living charter member of the Olla Masonic Lodge and was in the mercantile business for a number of years before joining the Olla State bank. Active in civic and church work in his area. Mr. Zeagler served as a member of the board of deacons of the First Baptist church of Olla for many years. Mr. Zeagler is survived by his wife, Mrs. Geraldine Norris Zeagler; a son, Bennie Mims Zeagler who was born of his first marriage to the late Mrs. Anna Mims Zeagler; a grandson, Jeffery Mims Zeagler; a sister Mrs. Blanche Prestridge. The Rev. Filer J. Seal, pastor of the First Baptist chucrh of Olla, conducted the final rites, assisted by the Rev. Alton Hearn of Ruston, and the Rev. T. B. Gayer of Franklin. Zeagler Sue Hardy Zeagler, 79, of Sarepta, died Sunday, January 31, 1999, in Minden. She was a former resident of Catahoula Parish and a homemaker. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Everett Mayo, Russell Hathcock and George Guy officiating. Interment will follow in the Harrisonburg Cemetery at Harrisonburg under direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday. Microfilm at the LaSalle Parish Library, Located in Jena, LaSalle Parish, La. Date: January 17, 1946 Headline: Mr. W. C. Zeagler of Monroe, Suffers Fatal Stroke Enroute to Olla Mr. W. C. Zeagler, age 61, a retired business man of Monroe, and brother of Mr. B. E. Zeagler, banker of Olla, died about 7:00 p. m., Sunday, Jan. 13, at the home of his sister in Olla, about two hours after suffering a stroke. According to reports received at this newspaper office, Mr. Zeagler was driving from Monroe to Olla and was near Standard when first affected. He was recognized by Mr. B. T. Steen of Olla, who happened to pass by as Mr. Zeagler drove off the highway. Mr. Steen brought him to the home of his sister in Olla where he died about two hours after the first stroke without regaining consciousness. Mr. Zeagler had been in ill health for 15 years and had not been active in business for the past five years. Funeral services for the deceased were held at 2:30 p. m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, with interment in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery at Pineville. Rev. Louis V. Jones, pastor of Olla Baptist Church and Rev. Loy Baird, pastor of Gibsland Baptist Church, officiated. Date: January 12, 2000, Wednesday Headline: Area Deaths Wilma Raye Nethery Zeagler, 71, of Olla, died Friday, January 7, 2000, at her residence. She and her husband own and operate the Olla Insurance Agency in Olla. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, a member of the Pinewood Garden Club and the bridge club. She was born in Tullos on Feb. 6, 1928, to the union of Wilbur P. and Edith Brandin Nethery. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, at the First Baptist Church in Olla with Rev. Milton Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. Survivors include her husband, Benny Zeagler of Olla; one son, Jeffery Zeagler of Olla; one daughter, Candy Carroll of Olla; two sisters, Ann Talley and Bettye McDonald, both of Olla; one brother, Glen Nethery of Diamondhead, Miss.; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Eddie Coolman, Blake Sims, Ray Duke, Kenneth Winberry, D. L. McDougald, and Bernard Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Shelby Loe, Dr. K. P. Mauterer, and J. T. Thompson.
