It was also posted in the Jena times after a family reunion in Nebo. Jermima Ellen Netherland was born 4 of November 1866 in Mississippi(probably Lawrence Co.) to Levi Jack Jr. and Martha Bailey. She was the 4th daughter of 7 children. I believe, Mr. Netherland moved his family to Louisiana after the death of his wife, Martha. Where he remarried in Catahoula Parish, 1879. Myma married Levi Paul son of Louis A. Paul and Susan O'Neal, 1879 in Catahoula Parish. They were the parents eight children, one of which died at an early age. She was known as an unusual lady, who was dedicated to helping others. She worked as a mid-wife. It is said, "she would carry scraps of material with her and teach quilt making. When the lumber mills came to this area, Dr. Wade came. He and Myma worked together and he assisted her in attaining birth certificates for the babies she delivered. In the 1920 LaSalle Parish census records, Jermima Paul is found living with her daughter, Cora and son - in -law , John Roy Ray and family. Myma Netherland Paul died the 14th of November 1935. She is buried at the Nebo Cemetery, by her father. There are very few things I know about Miss Myma Netherland and alot I would like to know I would like to know, when and where did her husband Levi die? Why is she not buried with him. I would like to hear from anyone who has more information about this really special lady. Corrections are welcome. Her children were:(standing in back) Susie, Cora and Leonard. (My father - in - law was named after him.) Seated: Lucius, Myma holding Pinkie and Rachal. Will is the smallest boy standing next to Rachel. I have Susie married Jody Allen, Leonard Levi married Elizabeth Girlinghouse, Pinkie married Jack Gray Allen, Cora married John Roy Ray 28 July 1912, Rachel married Stephen Crooks, Will married Marie Allen and Lucius "Judge" married Bertha Allen. I think these Allens were all siblings.
