They sought the Clark's office and made application for marriage license, the young lady doing the talking. Clark of Court P.K. Abel, always accommodating, issued license to M.R. Nicholas to web Miss Katie C. Ford. Rev. Geo. A. Kelly was called in to perform the ceremony, and after they were duly married the young groom wanted to know how much he owed Bro. Kelly. On being informed the bride remarked that they would not return home immediately as they would have to work some here to get means to pay fare back home. They thought they could get married at Jena and did not bring enough money to defray the expense of a trip to Winnfield, whereupon Rev. Kelly made no charge, thereby enabling them to return on the evening train. Additional Comments: Katie died at Crowville, LA in 1916. Her husband Marion remarried and died in in 1962. He is buried at Crowville Masonic Cemetery. Katie's grave appears to be unmarked.
